Připomeňme si dramatickou scénu z Vančurova Rozmarného léta:
„‚Slezte dolů, pane Krištůfku! Slezte dolů a nepokoušejte prozřetelnosti! Natlučete si a z těchto krvelačných zevlounů, kterýmž je příjemné viděti i popravy na soudním dvoře, vám nikdo nic nedá. Slezte dolů, Ježíš Maria, slezte dolů!’
Arnoštek dědečka po vojensku pozdravil, potom vystřídal palce a hleděl si svého. Starý pán přistoupil pomalu k lanu, jež podél vidlice viselo dolů a tu, aniž se rozhněval, jal se škubati a cloumati provazem opakuje, aby kouzelník nedělal hloupostí a slezl. Několik sousedů výtržníka napomenulo a Antonín s majorem k němu běželi chtějíce zabrániti nehodě, avšak dříve než mohli zachytiti ruku bláznovu nebo posměváčkovu, spadla veliká tyč kouzelníkova a za ní, vyraziv zděšený výkřik, střemhlav se řítil ubohý kouzelník.“

Představme si Vladislav Vančuru, jak dnes nám, vystrašeným, píše Rozmarný podzim:

Několik sousedů pomocníka napomenulo a Červenáček s plukovníkem k němu běželi chtějíce zabrániti nehodě, avšak dříve než mohli zachytiti ruku bláznovu nebo posměváčkovu, spadla veliká brada kouzelníkova a za ní, vyraziv zděšený výkřik, padl k zemi udušený kouzelník.“
